Medicare made clear

Whether you're turning 65 or reviewing the plan you have, a local agent can help you understand your options and compare plans side by side.

The parts of Medicare

Medicare can feel like learning a new language. Here's the short version.

Parts A & B

Original Medicare

Part A covers hospital stays, skilled nursing, and hospice. Part B covers doctor visits, outpatient care, lab work, and preventive services. Most people pay a monthly Part B premium, and Original Medicare has deductibles and 20% coinsurance with no yearly cap on what you spend.

Part C

Medicare Advantage

An all-in-one plan from a private carrier that replaces A and B. Many include drug coverage, dental, vision, hearing, and fitness benefits, and some have a $0 monthly premium.

Part D

Prescription drugs

Stand-alone drug coverage that pairs with Original Medicare or a Supplement. We'll compare what your specific prescriptions cost on each plan.

Medigap

Medicare Supplement

Helps pay the costs Original Medicare leaves behind, and lets you see any provider that accepts Medicare nationwide. A strong fit if you travel.

Extras

Dental, vision & hearing

If your plan's extra benefits are limited, a separate dental or vision policy can fill in. See ancillary plans.

Medicare questions we hear a lot

I'm about to retire and confused by Medicare. Where do I start?

Everyone's situation is different: health, income, and lifestyle all matter. Start with a free review. We'll walk you through Parts A and B, how and when to enroll, and which plan types make sense for you.

I'm healthy and don't take medications. Do I need drug coverage?

Usually yes. If you go without creditable drug coverage when you're first eligible, Medicare adds a permanent late enrollment penalty to your Part D premium later. Many Medicare Advantage plans include drug coverage along with dental, vision, and fitness benefits.

I'm retiring but my spouse isn't 65 yet. What are their options?

Your spouse can look at Marketplace or private individual plans until they turn 65. We can quote both of you at the same time. See individual plans.

I plan to travel a lot. Is there a plan that travels with me?

A Medicare Supplement plan lets you see any doctor in the U.S. that accepts Medicare, and some plans include foreign travel emergency coverage.

I have Medicare and Medicaid. Are there special plans?

Yes. Dual Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs) are built for people with both, often with extra benefits. Call us to see what's available in your county.

We do not offer every plan available in your area. Any information we provide is limited to those plans we do offer in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE, or your local State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) to get information on all of your options.
